This was at that closed off camp called “Twin Rivers” on the upper Sacramento River. (I did not take this photo. But the one I saw looked just like this, except a little bigger.) He looked right at me!
These are pretty much the rarest animals in all the Sierras. He was too far away for my camera to capture, so I did not bother.
