Fainting Up The Mountain

Photos Make Everything Flat

Three days to go seven miles. Wow. Water becomes a serious problem when you run out yet are too exhausted to make it to the next source.

Five times I walked a one mile stretch of hot desert trail, up and down. This because first my advance was sent back to get water, and then again because I did not get enough for how SLOW I was going. Two liters was not enough. I needed five for the nine mile dry stretch ahead.

A small ravine the trail crossed had a couple of hat sized puddle of clear spring water a bit down and to the side of the passage over. These were not easily seen from the trail. I found the water. Too sore to trudge on I filled up, and I drank and drank and drank until I was first pissing then pissing clear.

I had been getting dizzy every time I stood up!

I fainted twice!

I fell right over with those spells. One time I hurt myself, another, my phone fell in a puddle I was using to fill my bottles.

Dangerous.

So I took the day to drink water and sleep.

Felt great in the morning, watered up again. On the trail now at the last view of the kind of south in the photo.

Beautiful rugged country teeming with life. Three days in, leaner, I am loving every moment I am not in agony. Haha.
